Ah, the refreshing feel of nice, cold water splashing on the face. There's nothing like zipping across the water on a gorgeous summer day with Mt. Hood peeking above the skyline. Some of the Dusty Devas are quite experienced at windsurfing and kayaking, and others have tried the various water sports and find them cost prohibitive.
One Dusty Deva has been spending the springtime surfing the waves with a outrigger canoe. The thrill of going with the wind and surf is exhilarating! You may wonder, how can there be surf on the Columbia River? Just drive to The Hatchery on the Washington side, launch your outrigger canoe, and you too will experience surfing in the Gorge.
Other kayaking ventures have been with sit-on-top kayaks going down the Klickitat River, the Deschutes River, or at the ocean riding the incoming waves.
